The starting date for filing H-1B petitions subject to 2017 Cap is April 1st, 2016 which is about 6 weeks away.
Last year, the filing window lasted only 5 business days and USCIS announced that 233,000 petitions including those filed under the advanced degree exemption were filed during the first five days. Judging by the trend for the last few years and the state of the economy, it is quite possible that we will have a very short window for filing FY 2017 H-1B Cap subject petitions this year.
As one can expect, we have started working with employers in planning and organizing for filing their H-1B petitions subject to the 2017 Cap. It is very important to note that starting work on these petitions early will give us sufficient time to identify any problems that may exist and resolve them to be able file the petitions on time.
